Minutes of FoMM meeting, Sunday 1 July 2007

(1) FoMM Income and Expenditure Financial Year 2006/2007
Andrew Blankensee (treasurer) presented report
Financial statement summary:
1st July 2006: $237.20 CR
1st July 2007: $449.90 CR
Income: two single $100 donations, cold coin donations at events, Molonglo
Catchment Group annual membership fee ($25.00) paid by Hackett Community
Association.
Expenses: phone, stamps and bank account fees
Report was read and accepted.

It was noted that there have been a range of in-kind contributions (print,
potting soil, fertilizer, folding table and other).
(2) FoMM program for second half of 2007 (see updated
2007 program)
Sunday 29th July National Tree Planting Day 12-3pm
Coordination: Edwina Richardson
Area opposite Horse Paddocks, approx 60 plants.
Waltraud marking plant sites prior to event. Rangers drill holes with auger,
creek line holes may need manual digging. Rangers supply water tank.
Introduction on trees by Michael proposed. Promotion on website, email list
and posters.
Sunday 19th August Erosion Control to extend matting at Dam site
coordinated by Len.
Promotion as for tree planting.
Sunday 26th August Tree walk 12-2, guided by Michael
Woody Weeds Working bee (and Morning Tea) on the third Sundays Sept, Oct,
Nov
October Frogwatch during waterweek coordinated by Jenny (dates to be
confirmed)
October Wildflower walk, proposed Orchid walk
November Talk on how fire affects native plants, by Michael Doherty, Blue
Gum School Friends Lounge. Gold coin donation to cover $30 cost of venue
hire.
December proposed Spotlight Walk (ranger) / Ant walk (Ajay), native grass
seed collection

Members informed on FoMM news via website based email list
All members encouraged to subscribe to website based email list, email to
be sent. Currently a manual maintained list is (still) used concurrently
FoMMs membership of MCG to be maintained. MCG is the appropriate umbrella
group through which to apply for public funds as FoMM is not incorporated;
MCG offers a range of support services; networking
Government currently pays for insurance of ParkCare groups
(4) Information
Vandalised sites at sheep camp now replanted and good turnouts for weeding
ACTEW spraying of ground cover under powerlines ongoing problem.
Proposed fenced plot on edge of dam to plant kangaroo grass to protect
from kangaroos. Successful in Watson where grasses can produce seeds. Views
concerning kangaroo culling raised - whether overgrazing is an urban myth.
Island floating on PVC piping in Lake Grebe (Australasian G?) spotted by
Len, possible breeding site??
